Excerpt Place is a virtual book signing platform that hosts live and pre-recorded literary events on behalf of authors. Each event features pre-recorded video performances and, in some cases, a live AI-powered conversational experience representing the author.
Excerpt Place acts as a platform host. Individual authors and their publishers retain all rights to their books, excerpts, recordings, and likenesses.
Events are open to registered visitors only. To access an event you must provide your name, email address, and an inscription request. This information is used solely to personalise your event experience and bookplate keepsake.
Access is granted for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not share, resell, or redistribute your event access link or any content encountered during the event.
All book content, literary excerpts, author recordings, avatar likenesses, bookplate designs, and platform branding are the intellectual property of their respective owners — including the authors, Excerpt Place, and its licensors.
You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, or create derivative works from any content encountered during an Excerpt Place event without prior written permission from the relevant rights holder.
The personalized bookplate generated for you during an event is a digital keepsake for your personal use. It is not a legally binding autograph or a certified copy of the book.
When you request an author's e-signature, you are sending a direct request to the author. Excerpt Place facilitates this request but does not guarantee a response, a timeframe, or the authenticity of any signature returned.
The Author avatar in Event Room 2 is powered by a conversational AI system (ElevenLabs). Conversations are generated in real time based on a knowledge base and persona configured by or on behalf of the author.
AI responses do not constitute official statements by the author. They are generated representations designed to reflect the author's known voice, themes, and publicly available information about their work. Excerpt Place and the author accept no liability for the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated responses.
By using the conversation feature, you consent to your voice audio being processed by ElevenLabs in accordance with their privacy policy, available at elevenlabs.io.
Pre-recorded video performances (the Event Host, Excerpt Readers, and Author Introduction) are powered by HeyGen. By viewing this content, you acknowledge that it may involve AI-generated or AI-enhanced video technology.
You agree not to use Excerpt Place to engage in any conduct that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, or otherwise objectionable. You may not attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the platform or its underlying systems.
Your use of Excerpt Place is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
Excerpt Place is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the availability, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose of the platform or any event hosted on it.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Excerpt Place and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to technical interruptions, AI-generated errors, or failures of third-party services (HeyGen, ElevenLabs, or Netlify).
We reserve the right to update these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Excerpt Place after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
