Excerpt Place is a virtual book signing platform that hosts literary events on behalf of authors. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle the personal information you provide when registering for and attending an event.
When you register for an Excerpt Place event, we collect:

Your information is used for three purposes only:
Bookplate personalisation — your name and inscription are rendered directly in your browser onto the bookplate canvas. This happens entirely client-side; no data is sent to a server.
Signature request — if you click Request Signature, your name, email, and inscription are formatted into an email and sent to the author. This email is facilitated either via your local email client (mailto) or via EmailJS if the platform operator has configured automated delivery.
Event experience — your name may appear in the event room interface to personalise your visit.
We do not:
Add your email address to any mailing list or marketing database. Send you unsolicited emails. Sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes. Use your information for advertising profiling or retargeting. Track your browsing behaviour across other websites.
Excerpt Place uses the following third-party services to deliver the event experience. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
Excerpt Place does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics services. The platform uses only sessionStorage — a browser-native temporary store that contains only the information you provide during registration and is cleared automatically when you close the tab.
Third-party services embedded in the platform (HeyGen, ElevenLabs) may set their own cookies in accordance with their respective policies.
Excerpt Place retains no personal data on any server. Your registration information (name, email, inscription) exists only in your browser's sessionStorage for the duration of your visit and is automatically deleted when you close the browser tab or window.
If you submitted a signature request via email, a copy of that email may be retained by the author or the email delivery service used, in accordance with their standard retention policies.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data held about you. Since Excerpt Place does not retain personal data on any server, there is no stored record to access or delete beyond what resides in your own browser.

Excerpt Place events are intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the platform, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Excerpt Place after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
